ABOUT

I am a downtown Bend property owner, place consultant, and commercial real estate professional with more than 25 years of experience in community planning, downtown revitalization, economic development, and commercial real estate. I hold a Master's degree in Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati, and throughout my career I have worked with downtown organizations, property owners, businesses, developers, nonprofit organizations, and local governments to strengthen commercial districts and create places where people want to live, work, shop, and gather. My work has centered on helping downtowns and retail districts succeed through place consulting. This includes analyzing market trends, demographics, retail competition, consumer behavior, and tenant mix to develop strategies that strengthen commercial districts and support long-term economic vitality. One of my favorite aspects of my work is thinking about tenant mix—how the right combination of businesses creates energy, strengthens existing businesses, and gives a downtown its own distinct identity. My family and I have been part of downtown Bend since 1994, and I have also served on nonprofit and economic development boards, gaining experience in governance, strategic planning, and collaborative decision-making. I look forward to bringing that experience and perspective to the DBBA Board.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE ON THE DBBA BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

I want to serve on the DBBA Board because I care deeply about the long-term success of downtown Bend and the businesses and property owners who have invested in it. My family has been part of downtown Bend since 1994, and over the past three decades I have watched it evolve into one of the most vibrant downtowns of its scale around. Throughout my career, I have worked with downtown organizations, retailers, property owners, developers, and local governments to help strengthen commercial districts. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that successful downtowns don't happen by accident—they are built through thoughtful planning, collaboration, strong leadership, and a shared commitment to supporting local businesses. I believe I can bring a unique perspective to the Board by combining my background in place consulting, community planning, commercial real estate, and nonprofit governance. I enjoy listening to different viewpoints, asking thoughtful questions, and working collaboratively to develop practical, data-informed solutions. Most importantly, I want to help ensure that downtown Bend remains a thriving place where businesses can succeed, property owners continue to invest, and residents and visitors enjoy an authentic, welcoming downtown for generations to come.
