ABOUT

I am an architect and firm principal at ORW Architecture, which expanded into Bend three years ago from our office in Medford. When ORW Architecture bought and renovated an historic building (originally a livery stable) in downtown Medford six years ago, I was asked to join the board of the Downtown Medford Association and currently serve on the EID committee as well. When ORW opened an office in Bend, we wanted it to be downtown - to support other small businesses and to contribute to the life and activity of the downtown core. We had the opportunity to move downtown last year, into a space that reflects our firm's identity and allows room for growth. My previous board service includes the Medford Rogue Rotary Club, the Ashland Family YMCA, and the Mt. Ashland Ski Team (president). Now that I have moved to Bend, I would welcome the opportunity to give back through the DBBA.

WHAT ARE DOWNTOWN’S THREE GREATEST ASSETS?

The variety of great restaurants and retail storefronts, its walkability and lively street scene, and its proximity to Drake Park and the Deschutes River.

WHAT ARE DOWNTOWN’S THREE GREATEST OPPORTUNITIES?

The possibility of connecting to the Central District, the potential for redevelopment of the City Hall site after it moves, and the chance to bring more people walking downtown

WHAT ARE DOWNTOWN’S THREE GREATEST CHALLENGES?

Over-reliance on a tourism-based economy, the perception of a parking shortage, and traffic issues related to construction

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE ON THE DBBA BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

I am an ardent supporter of downtown redevelopment. Although I am relatively new to Bend, I am familiar with the roles of the DBBA and the Oregon Main Street Association, and how they differ from the services offered by the City.
