Jennifer has been sharing the magic of painting for more than 20 years. Her pieces are largely inspired by nature and the colors and textures she experiences in her outdoor adventures. She often uses alternative methods such as finger painting to achieve desired textures. She wishes to offer new perspective on the wilderness that surrounds us.
Art at the Oxford![]()
Join us, The Oxford Hotel - Bend, Oregon, for #FirstFridayBend! This month we'll be presenting Anne Gibson's "Wandering the Deschutes" exhibit, comprised of paintings of scenes along the mighty Deschutes River.
Anne brings years of artistic experience to her paintings. She captures variations of seasonal beauty on the river: lush scenes of the green foliage and blooms along the Deschutes in spring and summer, barren trees with reddish bark as fall ends, and wintery skies with darkened waters as winter arrives. After graduation from Tufts University, many years of professional experience at noted institutions (Director of Publication and Marketing at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts and Senior Designer at Gilbert Design in Providence, RI) brought both rewards and challenges. A move to Bend further grew her considerable skills, and launched Anne's enhanced painting career; after the study of art history and a career in graphic design, she began studying printmaking and pastel. In her current series, Anne paints from her “own photos and memories of places I have frequented along the Deschutes that most often bring me joy or peace. Expressing the feeling of place now dominates my impulse to represent landscape.” Stop by our lobby during First Friday #inbend to meet Anne and view her paintings. Sheila Dunn at Revolvr![]()
Best known for her large, vibrant figure paintings, Sheila’s work explores the fluid relationship between figure and environment: how each continuously informs and affects the other. At the heart of this exploration lies the notion that we both form – and are formed by - all we have seen and experienced.
When she is not in the painting studio, Sheila can be found teaching yoga, searching for her lost keys and exploring the wonders of the Northwest. The Karen Bandy Studio

Artist Toby Putnum at Velvet
Putnam was a featured artist at The 1 Moto Show in Portland in February. To create five flashy, graphic motorcycle-themed images, he first drew with an ink pen on paper, overlaid the resulting image with gold foil and then added more definition with ink. The next step involved cutting out the image and attaching it to a 14 square-inch board with gels and resins. To achieve a weathered look, he beat the boards with chains and even scorched them. The resulting images include creatures—a lion and a dragon among them—wearing motorcycle helmets. Another depicts a set of handlebars intertwined with flowers and a snake.
“All of us have a journey. I’ve had a lot of tragedy. But I’m surrounded by beautiful people, and it’s been very healing to be in this place,” the 39-year-old artist said of Bend. "Red for ED" Awareness Campaign![]()

More on our featured artist and band: TRICIA HUGGIN The strong, black lines and bright colors are a continuing theme in the work of Tricia Huggin. Influenced by the beautiful Oregon scenery and artists such as Matisse, Gauguin, and Van Gogh, Huggin found inspiration from the contrast of dying junipers and pines and the vibrant Oregon summer sky. She is best known for her depiction of poppies and the haunting, sculptural trees. Huggin is a mother of three and formerly a children’s clothing designer living in Bend, OR. “Art fulfills my need to create,” she says, “or better said by Picasso…” “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life…” THE BUCKLYS The Bucklys, a rock/soul trio based in Bend, OR, craft a rich sound, blending genres and crossing musical boundaries. Powered by the songwriting and imagination of longtime surfer and guitarist, Bill “Huggy Bear” Huggin, The Bucklys feels like sticking your toes in the sand on the perfect beach day. The vibe is relaxed, the sound is rock ‘n roll, and the feel is just right. Bill is joined by drummer John Cashman and bassist/trumpeter Marc Saccoman. The musicianship is solid, the feel is groovy, ethereal, and sometimes gritty. “The group is a prime example of the power trio – in which every member is firing on all cylinders – no slouching here.” ~Bend Bulletin October 2017 First Friday with Wild Ride Brewery at JDUB

Scott Schauer at Deschutes Brewery

Swing by the Deschutes Brew Pub on your First Friday Art Walk and check out our March artist of the month: Scott Schauer
Learn a little more about Scott from the words of Scott,
Me? I’ve lived as far east as Colorado and hunkered down in Ketchum, ID., White Pass, WA., and Mt. Rainier National Park. I spent a truly adventurous summer in Cordova, AK. as well as the ever popular I-5 corridor in cities like Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, and Eugene. But I call Bend, OR home. Influenced, you bet!
Spending my formative youth in the beautiful Pacific Northwest has brought me the greatest joy imaginable. The exposure to the mountains, sea, forests and high desert has shaped me like wind against the sand. Each location has taught me to respect the outdoors, to tread lightly, be the kindness to all living things, not to mention a few heaping doses of humility. Real life. It exists outside of your comfort zone, but mostly outside your house.
This whole dream started as a young mischievous lad. I learned how to ride a bike and how to ski. I traveled the northwest looking for adventure. I also loved to draw growing up. There was a very creative side that reared itself periodically. My folks encouraged me to pursue anything that made me happy, (like a career... thanks, dad). Although my talents were raw, and technology was bubbling to the surface, I knew it was just a matter of time before the tech / art collision.

Found Natural Goods is, of course, serving complimentary 100% agave tequila margaritas ––radical mixer to be announced–– with the company of wood, metal, and photography fusion that brings the outside into your modern homescape, HONOR Modern.
HONOR Modern is the brainchild of two artists who fell hard for building something together. From life to furniture, their collaboration has been nothing short of symbiotic.
With woodworking at the heart and photography in the soul, Brandon Beckley & Kristina Cyr took what they knew of their crafts and put them to work. The duo approaches each piece with a fine art sensibility and a keen respect for their source materials. From the NW milled black walnut to the 100% natural wool out of New Hampshire, environmentally sustainable and USA made products are the backbone of each collection.
Beckley and Cyr are committed to bringing timeless innovation to the modern furniture scene, so stay tuned and turn it up.

Barb Gonzalez at The Oxford

Join The Oxford Hotel for First Friday #inbend! Throughout the month of March, we'll be displaying Barb Gonzalez's photographs of Central Oregon...and beyond.
Barb made Bend her home in 2009 and, over the last 10 years, her photos of the #pnw and other destinations often appeared in the travel section of local newspapers (namely "The Bulletin" in Bend and "The Register-Guard" in Eugene).
Magazines including "Travel World Magazine", Alaska and Horizon Airlines’ "Alaska Beyond" in-flight magazine, "Cascade Journal", "Outdoors NW", and "Oregon Wine Press" have also featured her art. Her popularity as a photographer reflects her considerable skill.
Barb works to capture the essence of a place to create memorable images. Her refined perception of the subject tells a story — from vast mountain landscapes to close-up views of a determined, blooming foxglove winding its way through a rusting truck bumper. Subject proximity in her scenes further engages the viewer.
“I hope to share the beauty of both nature and manmade things,” she says, “so those who view my photos are as touched as I was when taking the shot.”
Barb will be in our lobby during #FirstFridayBend. Come say hello and view the photographs included in the exhibit!

I had never been a TV watcher and I was starving for a way to keep my mind alive while I was afraid my body was dying. As soon as I was again healthy enough to drive, I was at her home regularly.
