Downtown Bend Business Association Board of Directors
Anyone with an interest in contributing to Downtown is encouraged to run for an elected position on the Board of Directors. Directors serve two-year terms and oversee staff, policy, direction, and budget of the organization. All board directors must support the EID, and the mission of the DBBA: The Downtown Bend Business Association is a small nonprofit dedicated to increasing the vitality of Downtown Bend by enhancing the experience, image, and lifestyle of the Downtown Bend Economic Improvement District. A successful Board Director: attends monthly Board meetings, contributes to at least one program or project & serves for the betterment of all Downtown Bend - not for one single agenda. Mission
The Downtown Bend Business Association is a small nonprofit dedicated to increasing the vitality of Downtown Bend by enhancing the experience, image, and lifestyle of the Downtown Bend Economic Improvement District.
Position
The Board will support the work of the Downtown Bend Business Association (DBBA) and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the DBBA's Executive Director, the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
Board terms/participation
DBBA Board Members will serve a 26 month term and are eligible for re-appointment for additional terms. Board meetings will be held monthly and committee meetings will be held as scheduled
Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the DBBA's mission and who has a track record of leadership. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members.

- Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director as s/he develops and implements the DBBA's strategic plan
- Approving DBBA's annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Assisting the Executive Director and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
- Partnering with the Executive Director, DBBA Staff and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
- Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
- Representing the DBBA to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
- Ensuring DBBA's commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the community that the DBBA serves

- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of the DBBA’s beneficiaries
