Events & Street Closures for Summer Season 2015
Wednesdays from June 3rd through October 7th: Bend Farmers Market
Bringing together growers and producers with people who hunger for fresh, local, healthful foods from 3–7 pm. Street Closures: Brooks Street Promenade 12pm to 7pm.
Thursdays from mid-July through mid-August: Munch and Music
Located in Drake Park the weekly series provides the community of Central Oregon with a great chance to enjoy the arts, outstanding food, and free music. Begins at 5:30pm, no street closures.
Every First Friday of the month: First Friday Art Walk
Sensational local & national art are displayed at dozens of businesses on the first Friday of every month. Shops are matched with artists, musicians, and performers. Many businesses stay open late and will serve food and wine. From 5pm to 9pm, no street closures.
Saturdays from Memorial Day through September: Central Oregon Saturday Market
Across from the Downtown Public Library located in the School District Parking Lot-enjoy a variety of local artisans, food, and crafts. Fun for all ages. From 10am to 4pm, no street closures.
March 14th: St. Patrick’s Day Dash
The course will be the same as last year (except we will use the Columbia footbridge rather than the Colorado foot bridge) starting and finishing in front of the Deschutes Brewery on Bond Street. Bond Street will again be closed between Oregon and Greenwood from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. The post race event will continue for an hour or so longer in the parking lot between the Boyd Building and the Deschutes Brewery but Bond Street will be reopen by 1:00 pm.
April 25th: Earth Day Parade & Festival
Participants should gather at 10:30am on Louisiana Avenue by McMenamin’s to parade through downtown Bend starting at 11:00am.
The Fair will be held on Kansas Avenue in front of the Environmental Center, from Lava to Bond, ending at 3pm.
April 26th: Bend Marathon
Bend’s first Marathon. Starting in Downtown Bend, the course travels through the heart of the City, including Drake Park, before heading North along the Deschutes River. Expect delays between 7:00-10:30 am (Wall, Bond, Brooks, & Oregon St.)
May 5th: Cinco de Mayo 5k/10k Run
This race will begin in front of Hola Restaurant at 6pm. Runners will head West on Minnesota (closing one lane of traffic), going through the breezeway, and North on Brooks Street.
June 27th & 28th: Bite of Bend
Bite of Bend has activities for the whole family such as the live Top Chef competition, performance stage, beer garden, & fine food and wine. Street closures include Bond from Greenwood to Franklin, Oregon from Wall to Bond, and Minnesota from Wall to Bond.
July 4th: Old Fashioned Festival, Pet Parade
Come celebrate our country’s independence on July 4th! Start out your day’s festivities with the Pet Parade through Downtown Bend then follow up with the Old Fashioned July 4th Festival in Drake Park from 11am to 4pm. Expect traffic due to bicycles in early afternoon. Street Closures: Wall & Bond between Oregon & Bend Public Library Friday 9am-11:30am.
July 10th-12th: Bend Summer Festival -MORE CLOSURE INFO HERE
The Bend Summer Festival is thrilled to be coming upon its 24th year of filling the downtown streets of Bend with music, art, food, laughter & fun! Street Closures: Wall from Greenwood to Franklin, Oregon from Brooks Promenade to Lava, & Minnesota from Wall to Lava.
July 25th: Downtown Twilight Criterium-36th Annual Cascade Cycling Classic
It is the longest consecutively run elite stage race in the country and has attracted most of North America’s top cyclists and teams over the years. Street Closures: Wall and Bond between Oregon and Idaho to form a loop from 12pm-9pm.
July 30th-August 2nd: Sidewalk Sale
Downtown bend merchants need to clear out their shops to bring in new fall merchandise with sale prices up to 80% off! No street closures.
August 8th – 10th: Flashback Classic Car Show-MORE CLOSURE INFO HERE
Classic Car Show and Cruz is a family fun event where cars of all makes and models for years before 1979 will be displayed in Drake Park, as well as a ‘Cruz’ through Downtown Bend from 6pm-8pm. Street Closures: Oregon from Wall to Bond, Wall from Oregon to Franklin, Franklin from Wall to Lava, Lava from Franklin to Minnesota, Bond from Minnesota to Oregon 5pm-8pm.
September 4th-5th: Little Woody Craft Brew Fest
The Little Woody Barrel Aged Brew and Whiskey Fest was created to commemorate one of Central Oregon’s cultural hallmarks – craft beers. Located at Deschutes Historical museum this is a festival for beer lovers and connoisseurs alike! Idaho Street closed (just south of downtown)
September 19th -20th: Oktoberfest-Street Closure Information
A free community event to raise funds for beautification efforts like flowers, Christmas décor, bike racks, benches, & more that keep Downtown Bend beautiful. Street Closures: Oregon from Bond to Lava, & Irving from Oregon to Harriman (limited access for Gasoline Alley from Greenwood to Irving).
October 2nd-4th: Bend Fall Festival
The Bend Fall Festival will fill the streets with free Concerts On Two Stages, a Fine Artist Promenade,
Conscious Living Showcase, Harvest Market, and over 30 Food Vendors. Street Closures: Wall from Greenwood to Franklin, Oregon from Brooks Promenade to Bond, & Minnesota from Wall to Bond.
October 30th: Zombie Run
The Bend Zombie Run, pits survivors against zombies during an apocalyptic 5K race starting at the Bellatazza Plaza on Wall Street in downtown Bend.
November 11th: Veteran’s Day Parade
The annual Veterans Day Parade will be held at 11am, Tuesday, November 10th in downtown Bend. Parade route: NW Harmon – Newport Avenue – South on Wall Street – Riverside Drive to Galveston. Wall Street closed from 7am to 2pm.
November 26th: I Like Pie Run
I Like Pie is FootZone’s Thanksgiving Day run/walk open to everyone. Individuals and families of all ages and running/walking abilities are encouraged to come run/walk, bring pie, eat pie and have fun!
December 5th: Jingle Bell Run/Bend Christmas Parade
The annual Jingle Bell Run to fight Arthritis begins at 9:30 on Wall Street. The Christmas Parade will begin lining up on Newport Avenue around 10 a.m. Parade begins at Noon. Street closures will include Newport Avenue, Wall Street, and Riverside Blvd.
