faveur is excited to host local photographer Karri Cate . We will be serving champagne and chocolates and for extra fun- drawings for special sale prices, and giveaways for you savvy shoppers! Art Walk is our favorite night at faveur…

Karri Cate’s art is like her personality, full of life.
Composition is everything and the captured photo is only the beginning with Karri’s gift. A refreshing approach to photography, using natural light and repurposing old, shabby items, gives new perspective to old ideas.
Combining her soulful art with the photo and using everything from old shutters, rusty spring doors, or some string and a clothespin to bring her vision together makes the entire story come alive through her final display.
I am certain you will experience what I did when first viewing her work. Emotions are evoked, and you realize she looks through the lens a bit differently than most.
You will have to take a moment when absorbing a Dreamup photo because every detail comes into play; however, the message is always the same – whether it’s the light and love in children’s eyes, lovers’ smiles on their special day, or seeing the mystery of God in a sunset.
Love, faith and hope emanate through every piece of Karri Cate’s artwork.
Karri Cate Photography will inspire you to live your dream and feel what you cannot see.

Karen Bandy Design Jeweler

25 Minnesota (behind Thump)

Tucked behind Thump coffee and Aleda real estate, Karen Bandy’s studio is not easy to find but well worth the effort.
You will see original jewelry and fine art all designed and created by Karen Bandy. The colors will wow you, the designs will intrigue you, and you’ll be amazed at how comfortable her jewelry is to wear. Once you own an original Karen Bandy design you will keep coming back for more.  Most of Karen’s jewelry clients are repeat clients, and they are now collecting her paintings too. “The connection of the paintings with the jewelry is evident in my work, even though it is for the most part an unconscious connection. I’m sure the years of designing jewelry, my use of color and shapes, drives me in my paintings but I never set out deliberately to make that connection. It just happens”, says Bandy. Come see her work during the week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, First Fridays and by appointment at other times.

Mockingbird Gallery
869 Wall Street #100

Mockingbird Gallery presents “Wild Spirit, Run Free,” a two person show featuring new work of Lindsay Scott and Mick Doellinger.  The exhibit opens Thursday, September 6th from 5 to 8 pm and continues on First Friday, September 7 from 5 to 9 pm.  Both artists will be present for the Thursday and Friday night openings and music will be provided on First Friday by Rich Hurdle and Friends.  Both Lindsay Scott and Mick Doellinger share a passion for Africa and its wildlife, and both are concerned for conservation of wildlife worldwide.

Mick’s bronze sculptures have a loose, impressionistic style, in stark contrast to Lindsay’s highly detailed paintings and drawings. Both Lindsay and Mick have been accepted into the Autry Museum’s annual Masters of the American West exhibition in Los Angeles in February 2013.

Nationally known artist Lindsay Scott is acclaimed for her dynamic and precise oil paintings and her exquisitely detailed pencil and colored pencil drawings which convey the drama and spirit of African wildlife.

Features Large Scale Steamroller Prints

Printed Big! Really Big ~ Steamroller Prints

Bend, Oregon, August 18, 2012, Printed Big! Really Big highlights the fine art created at the Under Pressure Printmaking event held at Atelier 6000. The time-honored manner of pulling prints takes on a new edge ~ in the past four years, artists have gathered at Atelier 6000 to create giant impressions and prints from large-scale plates by bringing cutting-edge 15th century technology to the 21st century.  Only a handful of groups across the country are doing it and Atelier 6000 is the only group in central Oregon.

Artists and printmakers prepare their relief plates months in advance from large sheets of plywood or Masonite boards. Giant printing plates are readied in diverse manners; by either building up their sheets with found objects, wax, cardboard or wire to develop a collagraphic composition; or carving an image into the plate; or feeling the moment and painting directly onto the plate to create a monotype. This translates to a variety of textures and images; designs have included individualized themes, imagery ranging from narrative art to animal forms, abstracted patterns, and landscapes.

The oversized plates are inked by hand using brayers (rollers) and carried to A6’s parking lot where they are placed and covered with a sheet of paper, and a heavy felt blanket. The “steamroller” fires up! The crowds and artists anticipate the moment the road equipment, owned by Seven Peaks Paving, acts as a grand-scale relief press. With tons of pressure, it moves slowly forward to crush the plate and transfer the ink from the plate to the paper. Excitement builds as the blankets are removed, the paper pulled from the plate and the image exposed. Voila! Sighs of relief, ooohs and ahhhs, and congratulatory exclamations follow. Hand-pulled, original prints at Atelier 6000, there is nothing like this free event in central Oregon!

Atelier 6000’s printmaking and book arts studio is located in the Old Mill District on Scalehouse Court. Atelier 6000 offers courses which include workshops in relief printing, intaglio, letterpress printing, book arts and studio practices; i.e. drawing, art theory, art history, artist lectures. You can find information about the educational program at www.atelier6000.org
