Thanks to the amazing artist, Paul B. Leighton, we have new banners in Downtown Bend! Paul B. Leighton has been painting and drawing for most of his life. While his professional career has focused on industrial, web and graphic design, he’s always had a passion for oil painting. In 2009 he merged his skill as a painter and graphic designer to create the first of a series of illustrations for Bend’s Old Mill District. These popular posters capture scenes of nature with people enjoying its abundant recreational opportunities. Paul is influenced by the Art Deco travel posters of the 20’s and 30’s, but his settings have a more contemporary feel. In fact his style has been describes as “vintage with a modern twist”. He has created illustrations for Central Oregon Magazine, Visit Bend, 1859 magazine, and sporting events including the Pole Pedal Paddle, Cascade Gran Fondo and Bend Marathon.
The Downtown Bend Business Association would like to extend a HUGE Thank you to Paul for allowing us to use his art for our new posters. Many of us are familiar with Paul’s work (in fact, I have two of his piece up in my home). He has helped many of us define our joy for living, working and playing in Bend, this amazing place that we call home. Thank you, Paul, for your service to your art and to our community!
