Merchant Notification Program

City of Bend Police

Merchant Alert Program

Crime in business effects the entire community. Losses due to bad checks, stolen credit cards, shoplifting, stolen property costs everyone; the merchant, the employee and the customer.

The City of Bend Police Department has developed the Merchant Alert program to partner with the local business community. The intention of this program is to reduce the amount of loss that merchants suffer from various types of crimes; Burglary, Identity Theft, Shoplifting, Credit Card Fraud, and Vandalism.

The Bend Police Department believes that by forming a relationship with local merchants, together, we can reduce the amount of loss and apprehend those responsible in a timelier manner.  This has been the case with the Central Oregon Loss Prevention Network (COLPN) that was formed by the Bend Police Department in 2005.

This program will consist of a bi-monthly newsletter, sent electronically, which will include ideas, tips, and strategies aimed at reducing monetary loss to your business.  In addition, as events dictate, there will be “Alert” messages sent via e-mail. These “Alerts” are likely to consist of suspect(s) information, modus operandi (M.O), and/or victim identities that have been stolen.

We invite all members of the local business community to participate in this program.
