Do I know you from somewhere?” Marie Kappenman hears these words daily in Bend. “You look really familiar.” Since moving to Bend from Michigan in 2009, with her St. Bernard and absolutely no knowledge of her new community, Marie has made Bend home.

After working for a handful of local businesses, Marie settled into the kitchen at fledgling Bonta Natural Artisan Gelato and decided to relaunch her jewelry company, Notions of Lovely. In the five years since, Marie has become a regular face in the downtown district, managing the award-winning Bonta Scoop, teaching creative workshops in partnership with Oregon Body and Bath, selling her jewelry at local boutiques and sipping vanilla lattes at Lone Pine Coffee Roasters.

Next, she jumps into the world of event planning, hosting the first-ever Soulstice Festival in The Commons on June 21st, the Summer Solstice. Stop by to shop the wares of 18+ talented local artisans, nosh on street food from Shred Town Food Cart or grab a scoop from Bonta Natural Artisan Gelato’s brand new Scoop Truck.  Live music 7-9pm and live demonstrations courtesy of Tula Movement Arts!
