Ky-Mani Marley brings reggae to Bend!

The Bend Surgery Center’s Foundation Series continues to bring the world to Bend with the soul-infused reggae of Bob Marley’s son, Ky-Mani, on Tuesday, February 15 at 7:30 pm. Ky-Mani (East African for “adventurous traveler”) finishes his long-overdue west coast tour by treating Tower fans to a special evening of his fiery blend of hip hop, rock and classic reggae.

Born in Jamaica, Ky-Mani Marley has successfully forged a career as a singer and author. His four albums are: “Like Father Like Son,” featuring cover versions of his father’s songs; “The Journey,” which reached #7 on the Billboard Reggae chart; “Many More Roads,” nominated for a Best Reggae Album Grammy in 2001; and “Radio,” #1 on the Billboard Reggae chart in 2007. Ky-Mani is also featured on Andrew Tosh’s new Grammy-nominated reggae album, “Legacy,” with their acoustic version of Peter Tosh’s “Lessons in My Life.”

Ky-Mani, the second youngest of Bob’s eleven children, released his memoir Dear Dad on February 6, 2010, on what would have been his father’s 65th birthday.

Tickets to the previously scheduled Original Wailers will be honored at Marley’s performance. Coming up in the Bend Surgery Center’s Foundation Series are the Golden Dragon Acrobats of China and the Swingle Singers. Supporting sponsor is Central Oregon Radiology.
