The Franklin Crossing Building
550 Franklin Avenue
Art in the Atrium at Franklin Crossing, 550 NW Franklin, celebrates First Friday, July 6th, 2012, from 5 – 8 pm with Watercolors of Central Oregon by Helen Brown, Hyon Fielding, Charlene Gerrish and Chris Keylock Williams. The exhibition continues through July 29, 2012.
Helen Brown presents watercolor batiks painted on ginwashi rice paper and with colors and images protected by applying molten wax that is removed upon completion. A frequent award winner in watercolor, she qualified for signature membership in the National Watercolor Society (NWS) in 2008 and served as co-chair of the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO) Fall Convention and Exhibition at Sunriver Resort in 2011.
Chris Keylock Williams paints in an expressionistic style using aqueous edges softening rigid shapes and strong colors in paintings of the high desert Cascades, rocky gorges and agricultural valleys. One of the Northwest’s most noted watercolor artists, numerous publications, including Watercolor Expressions, feature her images. A signature member and award winner in the NWS, Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the Northwest Watercolor Society, she participated in exhibitions in the US and abroad.
Hyon Fielding shows scenes depicting high altitude light in clear desert air that communicate her strong emotional response to her home environment in Fossil. A native of South Korea prior to her US residency, her work appeared in the 2010 NWS 90th Annual Open Exhibition and the 2012 WSO Aqueous Media Show with Juror Stephen Quiller selecting her art for an Award of Distinction.
Charlene Gerrish presents images from her time in Central Oregon and brief glimpses from her current CA life. The artist paints graphic, large-scale images, often cropped for interest, in layered, brilliant staining colors. A signature member of the NWS and Watercolor West, her awards include the Audubon Artists’ Philip Isenberg Award (NYC). Watercolor Artist magazine published her water reflection images (April ‘12) and Splash 14: Light and Color will publish her art in their new book.
Ceylon Blue at Franklin Crossing will serve appetizers and wine with the popular Tommy Leroy Trio performing jazz: Andy Armor, piano, George Bouhey, drums, and Tom Freedman, bass. Billye Turner organizes exhibitions for Franklin Crossing and provides additional information at 541.382.9398.

Mockingbird Gallery
869 Wall Street #100
On First Friday, July 6, from 5 – 9 pm Mockingbird Gallery presents “Sharing Visions.” Jack Braman and Richard McKinley come together once again for their two person show. Please join us to meet the artists and to enjoy the sounds of Rich Hurdle and Friends. The exhibit will continue through the end of July.
Jack Braman’s acrylic paintings express the emotional and spiritual relationships he feels for the landscape. Jack is a native Oregonian who focuses on the waterways and landscapes of the Northwest: the Columbia Gorge, the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range and the Idaho Sawtooth range, as well as the Carmel coastal area. As often as possible, he loads his backpack with a sketchpad, pencils, a few paints and his camera and ventures out into the wilderness to reignite his passion. In his studio he carefully captures the sum of the drawings, mood and light on the canvases.
Richard McKinley grew up in the Rogue Valley of Oregon and enjoyed the beautiful forests, mountains and rivers of Southern Oregon. He works very closely “en plein air” on location, which has led to a much greater appreciation of the natural world.
“Working on location forces me to get in touch with the moment. My goal is to capture the spontaneous dance of light across the palette of nature. Light is the motivating factor – without it there would be nothing.”
He divides his time between painting the locations he is passionate about and reinterpreting those paintings back in the studio.
