They’re going fast, but tickets for the November 4th and 5th guest author readings at the Tower Theatre are still available. While the supply of reading tickets on The Nature of Words’ website is sold out, you can buy tickets online at www.towertheatre.org, by calling the box office at 541.317.0700 or in person at 835 NW Wall St. in Bend. The readings are part of The Nature of Words literary festival, which takes place November 3-7. Tickets for all other festival events remain available at www.thenatureofwords.org.
The November 4th author reading and book signing features Jimmy Santiago Baca, Kent Haruf, Brian Turner and Anne Lamott. On the evening of November 5th, patrons will enjoy readings and signings by Michael Dickman, Barry Lopez, Hillary Jordan and David Whyte. Readings begin at 7:00 p.m. each night.
In addition to the guest author readings, The Nature of Words festival includes two days of guest author workshops and lectures, an author reception and dinner, the Rising Star Creative Writing Competition Awards honoring emerging writers, and an Open Mic featuring a reading by Oregon’s new poet laureate, Paulann Petersen. Other presenters include Gary Fisketjon, an award-winning editor and vice-president at Alfred A. Knopf Publishers, and actor Sam Waterston, who will deliver the author dinner keynote.
