The Wine Spectator has selected our value brand Oak Grove Petite Sirah Reserve 2008 for their “Pick of the Day” with 86 points. The price per bottle is $9.00 Btl.

Here is the review:

“Bursting with ripe berry flavors, with cola and cedary details. This has smooth tannins and a core of fruit flavors with a licorice note on the finish.”

Famous Portuguese producer, Warre’s, has hit the spotlight in the Oregonian with Matt Kramer. Not for a fortifed wine, but with one of their ultra-tasty table reds, Altano Tinto Duoro 2007. Not only is this wine easy to drink with a variety of foods (think bbq – it’s starting to feel like summer, after all), but it’s a wine that is budget friendlly! $11.00 Btl.

Mr. Kramer says: “Speaking of unusual grape varieties creating distinctive wines, here’s another contender. Altano is the brand name of a Portuguese red grown in the Douro Valley , where the port is created.

Here you have a blend of two indigenous red grape varieties: tinta roriz (70 percent) and touriga franca (30 percent). The Douro is a rugged, even harsh, environment with granite soils. The result is a ripe yet balanced red wine with a lovely floral scent, good acidity and an unmistakable mineral note. It’s a terrific barbecue red of real refinement. The price is just $11.00 a bottle.”
