The June Art Walk features artwork by Norman K. Frater and Vivian Olsen. Norman K. Frater is a Central Oregon sculptor who portrays the character of life in his figurative and portraiture works in clay and bronze. Along with nature’s inspiration Vivian
Olsen is aided by a rich imagination and an ability to paint subjects that seem
to come alive and glow with vibrancy and light. She uses oils, pastels, or
watercolor and paints in a loose, but realistic style.

The June Art Walk features: Participants in the Figure Drawing Open Studio Workshop at Central Oregon Community College will present a variety of work celebrating the human figure at Arts Central (875 NW Brooks St., 97701). All work represented in the exhibit will have been completed or begun during the weekly sessions held on campus.  The selection of works on display will depict the human figure rendered in a wide spectrum of mediums including drawing, painting, and sculpture.  Over two dozen artists will be displaying work in this exhibit.

The June Art Walk Features “Carrying the Load”, a Photography Exhibit of the World’s Women by Sandra Steele Kunz.  Sandra is a Central Oregon photographer with her lens trained on the world. Her love of travel and diverse cultures has led her to photograph around the world, especially Asia and India. Her favorite photographic subjects are Buddhist cultures and environmental portraits of women and children. None of her portraits are posed. She prefers those that result from a mostly unspoken communication, through eye contact, smiles, gestures and laughter.

Kim Kimerling’s work has been exhibited in over 100 one-person shows throughout the U.S., Canada, Nigeria, Mexico and Belize.  He is considered a Multicultural Symbologist from his attempt to capture the changing moments of his life, preserving them in art.  He works in mixed media, acrylic, watercolor, ink, pencil and in three dimensional pieces of clay, wood, metal and fabric.  We will have a nice variety of his styles in various media on display.

As always, music will be provided by the talented Lisa Dae singing her smooth jazz tunes with Robert Lee joining her on guitar.   Maybe we can get Elyse to do a tune or two too.

The June Art Walk features :Human Dignity Coalitions “We Live Here, Too,” A Central Oregon Portrait Series By Teafly Peterson.  Throughout June, Thump Coffee in downtown Bend will display “We Live Here, Too,” a portrait series of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community of Central Oregon and their friends, family and allies, created by artist Teafly Peterson in conjunction with Human Dignity Coalition.
