Did you know that part of Downtown Bend has had an exclusionary zone since 2006? The goal of an exclusionary zone is to reduce criminal behaviors that negatively affect quality of life in Downtown Bend.
The exclusionary zone excludes people who have been ticketed for a crime in Downtown Bend. If an individual commits a crime, including assault, littering or drinking in public, they can be issued a ticket and excluded for 90 days. Ticketed individuals have the right to appeal, during which time they are not excluded.
The Bend City Council approved an expansion of the zone to include the city’s downtown commercial heart, stretching south from Greenwood Avenue to Idaho Avenue, and west from the existing zone to Lava Road and Harriman Street.
