City to Enforce Sign Code
Love it or hate it, the City has a sign code that regulates how signs look on buildings, in the right of way and more.
Downtown businesses need to be aware of the code that applies to sandwich board signs. These are the A frame style signs that businesses put out in the right of way (as shown here). They are illegal unless permitted under the code.
In January, we notified downtown businesses via the newsletter and posted on this site, information about the sign code. The city informed us that they would be informing businesses of the code and giving them time to comply. See the letter HERE
Now, unfortunately there are still many non-compliant signs.
