City Policy Change on Events

In order to ensure public health, welfare and safety, the City of Bend will not be permitting special events to have downtown business patrons served in the streets while events are in progress and the streets are open. Examples of such events include the Cascade Cycling Classic Criterium and the Flashback Cruz Classic. Businesses will need to serve patrons within their current boundaries according to their Outdoor Seating Permits, while still leaving room for foot traffic and accessibility paths on the sidewalk. For downtown events that include full street closures, businesses will need to contact the event planner for permission to serve patrons within the permitted event space on the street.

My concern is that there too many downtown events that conflict with retail store sales. The one I am most concerned with is the Farmer’ Market held on Wednesdays. It cuts sales to 0 most of the time on Brooks St.
