technique and imagery. Broken pointillism combines with stark, heavy solid line to suggest
a map of symbols, some vaguely figurative and others purely abstract.

Margot Voorhies Thompson presents imagery reflecting her interest in calligraphy. Creating her own vernacular referencing historical, contemporary, and futuristic letterforms, the artist encodes literature, historic events and other information beneath the surface for the viewer’s
interpretation.

Linda parker is an amateur artist.  She paints what she sees and likes. Linda says “I see possible paintings everywhere I look”. Linda enjoyed drawing from an early age, and took  art classes in college. Most of Linda’s paintings have been commissioned.  She had given many as gifts.  Many of Linda’s paintings hang at the city care clinic in Redmond.  She paints every chance she gets, it is one of her favorite things to do. Stop in and see Linda’s work and have a glass of wine & some chocolate.

Richard Boyer is a realist painter with an edge.  His landscapes reflect a traditional approach to oil painting but are enhanced by rich, textural surfaces infused with beautiful color and light.  His subjects range from studies of human figures involved in their daily lives to busy European scenes of harbors, cafés and quaint villages.  He also paints landscapes of the America West.

Art at the Oxford at The Oxford Hotel celebrates First Friday with VISIONS OF HOPE, paintings and drawings sold to benefit
orphans in the Otino Waa Children’s Village, Uganda. The exhibition opens on Wednesday, April 2 continues through Sunday, April 7 2013.

Retired Bend schoolteachers, Bob and Carol Higgins, have worked for 12 years
in Northern Uganda to build Otino Waa, more like a village than an orphanage, with small
houses for eight children and local widows serving as housemothers. Presently 260 children
live in the village funded entirely from private donations by generous Americans.

Paul Scott Gallery is happy to announce new works by Central Oregon artists Valerie Winterholler and Mytchell Mead their exhibition runs April 5 through April 30.
Valerie holds a BS in Art from Southern Oregon University and works in acrylic on panel. She is inspired by the balance and symmetry of nature, using line and color as a way of conveying her love of things that are untouched by the constraints of society.
Mytchell Mead combines patina’d steel and weathered reclaimed wood, Mead takes his inspiration from the high desert and its volcanic plate.
