2010 Wiener Dog Race Photos

The 2010 Wiener Dog Races held at the Bend Oktoberfest were the biggest Wiener Dog Race in Bend history!

Oktoberfest is a fundraiser for Downtown Bend beautification projects. This year the Wiener Dog Races also raised funds for the Humane Society of Central Oregon. A crowd estimated at over 1,000 came down to see the little dogs run!

Naturally, there’s lots of posturing pre-race as seen by this pup who sported a skull and crossbones image on his back to intimidate the competition.

The crowd gathered in anticipation. The year of training, the anticipation, the offline betting…it all came down to this race!

And they’re off! A tight race in this heat, some scrambling for the lead while others are just scrambled!

A lone leader cranking it along. Similar such lopsided victories have lead to a call for potential drug testing for next year.
